Info: At NJAS teams of 4 individuals will be asked to lead in an animal of their choice and conduct a private treaty sales scenario to a panel of 3 judges. For our qualifying round we’re asking that everyone bring a photo/video and registration papers of an animal they are wanting to sell and to give a 5-minute sales pitch to a judge about why they should purchase this animal. Judges will be looking for knowledge of customer needs, knowledge of animal and its performance data. Hint: The papers don’t have to match the animal being sold if you want to pull a more performance-elite set of papers you can. Plan a short Q&A with the judge after your pitch. No need to dress up, barn clothes are fine. We’re looking for knowledge, poise and delivery. If you can’t make it to Sedalia, reach out to Jennifer Ward at 816-217-7508 to schedule a zoom interview.
Scenario: A fellow producer is looking for a show heifer/steer for his young granddaughter. It is important to him that the animal is competitive, but also important to him that the animal will transition into a replacement female (or bring profit on the rail) and bonus points if she becomes an elite donor for their operation. The buyer is a cow/calf producer that raises angus-based commercial seedstock, registered Angus and registered Simmental cows.
